US House Majority Leader Eric Cantor
has called for further sanctions against Iran in the wake of new round of nuclear negotiations between Tehran and world powers.
During his speech at the Virginia Military Institute on Monday, the top House Republican sharply criticized President Barack Obama’s foreign policy.
Cantor said the United States should “lay the groundwork now for additional sanctions” in the event that Iran violates an interim nuclear agreement reached last year.
The remark was made while Iran and representatives from the US and five other nations are set to begin talks in Vienna on Tuesday to reach a comprehensive deal over the country’s nuclear energy program.
