One person was killed this morning when a tractor-trailer and taxi collided and then burst into flames on the northbound side of the Zakim Bridge in Boston, State Police said.
One person in the taxi has been confirmed dead, State Police said.
Boston firefighters extricated the body from the wreckage, officials said.
“The person was declared deceased on scene, and we’re investigating,” said Trooper Todd Nolan, a State Police spokesman.

Shortly before 8 a.m. today, State Police reopened the southbound lanes, but the northbound lanes remained closed while the crash was investigated by State Police and Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office.
State Police closed ramps to Interstate 93 North from Essex Street and North/Atlantic Avenue for the investigation.
The tractor-trailer was carrying produce, fire officials said. The state fire marshal’s office is also involved in the probe.
Traffic delays are expected to be considerable throughout the morning.
