A tractor trailer became wedged underneath an overpass on FDR Drive during Monday morning’s commute in New York City.
It happened in the northbound lanes at around 5am. Tractor trailers are not supposed to be on that particular section of the roadway.
The truck hit about four overhead supports, shearing off the top of the truck’s trailer and causing it to buckle. Heavy-duty trucks then tried to clear the crash
Traffic was diverted on the FDR Monday morning after a tractor-trailer got wedged underneath an overpass on the Manhattan highway
When trucks arrived to help remove the trailer, they ended smashing up against another of the roadway’s support columns.
The northbound lanes of FDR Drive were shut down from 34th Street for several hours, leading to miles of delays back to the the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges
