Fire and EMS officials said a construction worker was killed and a tractor trailer driver was injured when a highway overpass collapsed in Cincinnati.
The bridge was undergoing demolition at the time of the collapse near Hopple Street about 10:30 p.m. Monday, according to the Cincinnati Fire Department.
Fire officials said southbound interstate 75 was closed indefinitely. It wasn’t clear what caused the collapse.
Officials say hundreds of thousands of pounds of concrete fell onto the roadway. A tractor trailer was seen damaged.
The injured driver was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The driver’s condition was unknown.
A witness told WLWT5 that he heard “a real big boom” and then a couple of seconds later he saw police cars rushing to the scene.
