The man who was driving a fuel tanker-truck when the the vehicle erupted in flames after an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike ramp has died.
Police say Carlos Vinciguerra-Gomez, 58, succumbed to his injuries a day after he was badly burned when his truck, which was transporting gasoline, crashed around 1:45 p.m. near Interchange 11 in Woodbridge.
It’s unlcear how Vinciguerra-Gomez lost control while exiting from one of the southbound lanes. The fuel ignited, sparking a massive fire that send a large column of black smoke into the air.
Vinciguerra-Gomez, of Elizabeth, was alone in the truck when he crashed.
Police are still investigating what caused the accident.
