A tanker truck crash closed Interstate 270 in both directions at Vasquez Boulevard on Wednesday afternoon.
The truck rolled over on the eastbound side of the highway.
The tanker was carrying fuel but there was no fuel spill. Commerce City police said crews sprayed foam around the truck to keep things safe while they pumped the fuel from the crashed tanker into another truck.
There were major delays as the afternoon commute began.
“It’s bad. They closed down both of the sides of the highway right there and the traffic is all the way back to Quebec” one driver said.
The highway reopened just before 8:30 p.m.
