A 50-mile stretch of eastbound Interstate 90 is closed over the Cascade Mountains due to a crash involving an overturned tanker truck, the Washington State Patrol reports.
State troopers responded to the scene, just west of Cle Elum, at about 1:45 a.m. Friday after receiving reports of a serious crash.
They found three damaged vehicles at the scene, including a tanker lying on its side beside a bridge. The tanker was ruptured and leaking fuel onto the roadway and into the environment.
The truck driver had sustained minor injuries.
Eastbound lanes of the freeway were closed between North Bend and Cle Elum during the investigation and cleanup. Troopers say the freeway should reopen around noon.
The circumstances leading up to the crash are under investigation.
